Lineament analysis is an effective tool for the detection of surface features in geology and considered as a preliminary step for characterization and exploration of geological structures. Many geological studies require standard methods and procedures to acquire information precisely. One of them is automated line extraction which is preferred by many users because of its easy applicable procedures. However, output quality of the automatically generated lineament map completely depends on the mathematical function of software, quality and time of the image. In this study, consistency of the automatically generated two lineament mapswas analyzed by using the subscene of Landsat TM_1985 and ETM_2000 images taking around Tosya basin in central parts of the North Anatolian Fault System. The extracted lineament maps were compared with respect to each other and representing faults from field data. In the results, two lineament maps produced based on the same mathematical function of software are almost similar to each other according to their representing fault features. However, their frequency and main orientations noticeably differ from each other.
