AN INVESTIGATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SOCIAL MEDIA USE MOTIVATION, LEISURE SATISFACTION AND LIFE SATISFACTION: A CASE OF AKDENIZ UNIVERSITY

Özet

In the context of the Uses and Gratifications Approach, social media creates a global space for the individual, enabling the individual to create his / her own media content, to communicate with many people at the same time, and to create his / her own social environment and communication network. In this study, it was aimed to determine the findings about the use of social media by university students and to reveal the relationship between social media use motivation, leisure time satisfaction and life satisfaction. This research, based on quantitative data, which aims to determine the relationship between these variables, has been designed in general and relational survey model. The population (alpha= 35,038) of the research was determined as students studying at the faculties of Akdeniz University in the 2019 year. In the research, the students representing the students studying at the faculties of Akdeniz University (alpha = 582) were selected from the universe with the convenience sampling method. The relationship between students' motivation to use social media, leisure time satisfaction and life satisfaction was examined in the study. In the study, it was determined that there is a statistically significant relationship between social media use motivation and leisure time satisfaction, however there is no significant relationship between social media use motivation and life satisfaction.
