Özet

During his excursion in 1838, Ch. Fellows made the drawing of a prohedria of the theatre and noted that it was made of marble. During the 2014–2015 excavation season, symposiums on stone sculpture were held at Xanthos. The focus of the symposiums were on the prohedria, which were generally used in public buildings in ancient cities. The aim of these symposiums was to show visitors to the ancient city of Xanthos, who are interested in cultural heritage, how stonemasons created a city, albeit using modern methods. It was also intended to make a contribution to the landscaping of the ancient city by means of the sculptured works. In this context, inspired by the ancient examples ,14 seats were created using travertine stone, which was also used in the city during the antiquity and which is readily available in the region. After the production phase, the seats were placed in and around the Visitor Center as part of the urban landscaping arrangement and presented for the appreciation and use of the city’s visitors.
