Problem Statement: The way to increase the quality of education is to increase teacher competencies. In this
context, one of the areas that needs to be supported is to increase the digital competencies of teachers. Emergency
remote education, which started with the COVID-19 pandemic, has become a necessity for teachers to use
technology effectively. With the Digital Teachers Project, which was developed based on this need, it is aimed to
contribute to digital transformation in technology education.
Purpose of the research: In this study, it is aimed to present the preliminary findings of the first phase trainings
obtained at the end of the first term of the Digital Teachers Project, which is carried out to develop the digital
competencies of teachers.
Method: 1000 primary and secondary school teachers from 10 different cities participated in the Digital Teachers
Project. The first phase of the project consists of synchronous and asynchronous trainings lasting 10 weeks. In line
with the criteria determined at the end of the process, the success and participation rates of the teachers
participating in the project and their satisfaction levels with the teaching process were examined. Descriptive
statistics were used in the analysis of the data. In addition, quotations from teacher comments are also included.
Findings and Conclusion: At the end of the project, 872 of the teachers completed the training by receiving
certificates of achievement or participation. At the end of the project, 716 teachers were awarded certificates of
achievement and 146 teachers received certificates of participation. Of the teachers who received a certificate of
participation, 67 (45.9%) were male and 79 (54.1%) were female. Moreover, 486 female and 230 male teachers
received certificates of achievement. The satisfaction survey with teachers showed that the project was highly
appreciated by teachers and contributed significantly to increasing their digital competencies.
Discussion, conclusions and recommendations: The Digital Teachers Project was completed with a high level of
participation and satisfaction of teachers. In this respect, the Digital Teachers Project offers a viable and sustainable
model for in-service teacher education.
