Makalede bir Batı Dağlık Kilikia kenti olan Iotape’de bulunmuş MS II. yüzyıldan yeni bir onurlandırma yazıtı tanıtılmaktadır. On altı satırdan oluşan bu onurlandırma yazıtı Trokomōs adında bir boule üyesi için genç yaşta vefat etmesinin ardından diktirilmiştir (postumus onurlandırma). Makale kapsamında ayrıca kentin şimdiye kadar yayımlanmış yazıtlarından, sikkelerinden, antik edebi metinlerden ve arkeolojisinden yola çıkarak Iotape’nin, tarihi, idari, dini ve sosyal açılardan genel bir değerlendirmesi yapılmıştır. onurlandırılan Trokomōs öldüğünde henüz bir neanias idi. Buna rağmen kentin en önemli ve üstlenilmesi çok büyük bir zenginlik gerektiren arkhe ve leitourgialarından imparator kültü başrahipliğini (arkhiereia), kentin eponym memuriyeti olan demiourgia’yı ve Roma’ya ödenmesi gereken imparatorluk vergilerini ödeyebilmeyi garanti edecek kentin on kişisinden biri olarak dekaproteia’yı üstlenmiştir. Yazıtta bouleutai’ın hiyerarşik düzende kentin birinci sınıfını teşkil ettiği, Trokomōs’un da boule üyesi bir genç olmasıyla dolaylı olarak birinci sınıf bir aristokrat olduğuna vurgu yapılmaktadır. Ayrıca, devlet kademesinin en üst basamaklarındaki bir aristokrattan beklenen ahlaki nitelikleri de bünyesinde barındırdığı ve herkesin onun bu yönüne ve iyi huylu mizacına tanık olduğu ifade edilmektedir.
This article presents a honorary inscription dated to the second century CE, newly discovered at Iotape, a city in western Rough Cilicia. This sixteen-line inscription was set up in honour of a bouleutes named Trokomōs after he died at a young age (posthumous honour). Within the scope of the article, a general assessment of Iotape in terms of historical, administrative, religious and social aspects is also made based on the inscriptions, coins, ancient literary texts and archeology of the city published so far. Trokomōs, who was honored by the council and the people, was still a neanias when he died. Despite this, among the most important archai and leitourgiai of the city, which required great wealth, he fulfilled the high priesthood of the imperial cult (archiereia), the demiourgia, which was the eponymous office of the city, and the dekaproteia as one of the ten people of the city who would guarantee to be able to pay the imperial taxes to be paid to Rome. It is emphasized in the inscription that the bouleutai constituted the first rank of the city in hierarchical order, and implied that Trokomōs was a highest-rank aristocrat as he was a member of the boule. It is also stated that he had the moral qualities expected of the elite citizens at the highest degree of the community, and everyone bears witness to his good-natured temper.
