On February 6, 2023, Türkiye was shaken by two powerful earthquakes in the country's southeastern part. Using an input-output table constructed for the earthquake region, this study analyses the short-and long-run regional effects of the Kahramanmaraş earthquake by employing hypothetical extraction and demand shocks. The overall economic loss is expected to be about 102 billion dollars. Assuming that the committed construction investment expenditures and household transfers are actualised, the loss might decrease by about one-third. The manufacturing of food, textile, plastic products and the agricultural sector were identified as having particular significance in creating nationwide effects.
