UNIVERSITY STUDENTS' VIEWS ON ENGLISH SPEAKING TASKS
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate university students' views on English speaking tasks
(speaking portfolio tasks) in English Language Curriculum. In order to achieve this aim, a survey
questionnaire designed by the researcher was administered to 90 students of foreign languages school
in a state university. The questionnaire consisted of two parts.The first part included demografic
questions about students' age, gender, English language level and type of school attended.The second
part contained open-ended questions to identify students' views on English speaking tasks in terms
of their contribution to the development of English speaking skill. Face validity and content validity
of the survey was evaluated by experts. The survey was revised based on experts' opinions and
feedback. Survey research method was used in the study. Qualitative and quantitative data analyses
methods were used to analyze the data obtained from the study.
