Corporate governance is a management concept which can provide solutions to the conflicts of interests between all company-related individuals and corporations through an agreeable policy without affecting the company's continuity in an effort to increase the value of a company in the long run. Therefore, analyzing the effect of corporate governance on the company's performance is a subject of great importance for the companies (Dağlı and all 2010, 19). In this study, it is aimed to determine the level of relationship between the performances of the companies, which are included in the corporate governance index and whose shares are traded in Istanbul Stock Exchange (BIST), and corporate governance index score as well as various financial ratios within the given periods through the panel data analysis.
Kurumsal yönetim, bir şirketin değerini uzun vadede arttırabilmek amacıyla, şirketle ilişkisi olan tüm kişi ve kurumlar arasındaki çıkar çatışmalarını, şirketin sürekliliğine darbe vurmadan uzlaşımcı bir politika ile çözümünü sağlayacak bir yönetim anlayışıdır. Bu nedenle kurumsal yönetimin işletme performansı üzerindeki etkisinin incelenmesi, işletmeler açısından önem arz eden bir konudur (Dağlı ve diğerleri 2010, 19). Bu çalışmada BİST'de işlem gören ve kurumsal yönetim endeksinde yer alan işletmelerin, belirlenen dönemler kapsamında işletme performansları ile kurumsal yönetim endeks puanı ve çeşitli finansal oranlar arasındaki ilişki düzeyinin panel veri analizi ile tespit edilmesi amaçlanmaktadır.
