Abstract

Background: The purpose of this study is to determine early myocardial dysfunction in beta-thalassemia major (BTM) patients. Where the myocardial dysfunction cannot be detected by conventional echocardiography, it could be detected by tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) or speckle tracking echocardiography (STE).
