Researches in recent years show that one of the most important factors that lead to mass mortality in honey bee population all around the world is varroa mite. Therefore, breeding for the acquisition of Varroa-tolerant line has gained momentum worldwide. In some of the completed studies colony has been shown to survive even if the varroa ecto parasite present. These studies demonstrated the importance of the genetic variations at honeybees which are resistant to varroa. In this project, the main aim is to develop breed colonies resistant to varroa in Muğla honey bees belonging to Apis mellifera anatoliaca breed ecotypes
