Abstract

Transthoracic electrical cardioversion of atrial fibrillation or flutter using direct-current electrical shock is among the most commonly performed and effective cardiovascular procedures. In this study, a recently introduced biphasic shock waveform provided a higher transthoracic cardioversion success rate with lower delivered energy than did a conventional monophasic waveform.
