Özet

The purpose of this correlational study was to investigate pre-service teachers’ attitude towards using technology in education and compare findings from sports sciences graduates with foreign language graduates and reveal the associations between attitude towards using technology in education and pre-service teachers’ use of social networking services (SNS). One hundred fifty six prospective teachers who were enrolled in the pedagogical formation certificate education program at Akdeniz University Faculty of Education participated in this study (N = 156). The data were collected by using an instrument consisting of the Attitude towards Using Technology in Education and demographics form. The data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U test, Spearman's rho, and multiple linear regression techniques. The findings revealed that attitude towards using technology in education did not show a significant difference according to age or gender. While foreign language graduates had a more positive attitude towards “improving oneself in using technology” (U=2084, p=0.004), sports sciences graduates had more positive attitude towards “use of technology in teaching processes” (U=1671, p=0.000) and “use of technology in classroom management” (U=1764, p=0.000). While time spent on SNSs did not show significant differences according to graduated program, number of friends on favorite SNS correlated with “improving oneself in using technology” (ρ=0.219, p=0.007).
