The aim of this study is to investigate theeffects of neighborhood relations on existinglandscape patches in the assessment of landscapepatch quality. The quality of a landscape patch isdirectly related to the biodiversity and the land usesadjacent to the patch. In other words, the land use ofneighboring patch can have a multifaceted effect onthat patch. While these neighborhoods increase thebiodiversity of the landscape patch, its connectionwith other patches, also cause degradation and lossof habitat. Therefore, when evaluating the quality ofthe landscape patch, neighboring relations should betaken into consideration. In this study, neighboringrelationships of forest fire severity patches inexisting land cover were analyzed with use of data-sets from Google Earth Engine (GEE) which is acloud computing platform. The data have beenselected from Izmir which is the biggest city inAegean Region of Turkey, and the neighboringrelations have been analyzed. As an example, theforest fire occurred in 18th August 2019 case hasbeen selected which is one of the biggest forest firehappened in Izmir from the past. This burned area isneighbor with the center of Menderes town in East, and the other directions are covered by unaffectedforests. The relation between burned area and thesepatches are analyzed with use of Google EarthEngine derived NDVI data-sets from Landsat 8 andSentinel 2 from the dates of pre- and post-forest fireevent The burned area has been automaticallydetected, converted to vector, then the boundary ofthe patches have been converted to the points. Theratio of the points which belong to the patch withtotal number of points along the boundary of burnedarea gives the relationship ratio which is used toevaluate the effect.
