Dr. OZCATALBAS is Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Akdeniz, Turkey. He is specialist in rural extension and development with special reference to rural women and youth, rural community-development and training and trainers, rural tourism, ICT and agricultural information system, technology transfer and rural energy policy.
Currently he is still working in the Agricultural Policy and Extension Unit of Department of Agricultural Economics of Agricultural Faculty of Akdeniz University.
Orhan ÖZÇATALBAŞ graduated from Çukurova University Agricultural Faculty at Adana, Turkey in 1986 and completed his PhD in Agricultural Economics in the same institution in 1994. He joined to the Akdeniz University at Antalya in 1998 as an assistant professor of agricultural economics and promoted to professorship in 2011. Dr. Özçatalbaş concentrated his work in the field of agricultural extension starting with his MSc and PhD studies, and rural development and tourism, and ICT in agriculture. He has been as a visitor scientisit for Postdoc, in Hannover Leibniz University, Institute of Horticultural Economics (Institut für Gartenbau ökonomie), 1999-2000. Dr. Özçatalbaş’s research was focused on agricultural economics,rural extension and policies, information systems, ICT and technology transfer, rural development, rural tourism, rural energy and policies.
Dr. Özçatalbaş is a member of the Turkish Agricultural Economics Association and Agricultural Economics Society and published more than 90 papers, more than 7 chapters and two books(Agricultural Extension & Communication / Computer using for Students) in national and international journals. Dr Özçatalbaş is also an editor of the International Journal of Rural Tourism and Development (IRTAD, http://www.turizmvekalkinma.org/ ).
